Social Responsibility

HairZing has a socially-responsible approach to manufacturing; women artisans handcraft each HairZing.

Delivering high-quality products and providing exceptional customer service are cornerstones of HairZing's success. Equally important is our parent company's commitment to conducting business in a socially responsible manner.

Sennits' philosophy is that having your heart in the right place isn't enough. The first step towards real economic power is creating business opportunities. When economically disadvantaged women learn to successfully run their own small companies and collectives, fundamental and lasting change ensues!

Sennit's Mission

Sennits' mission is to bring business to female entrepreneurs in areas with limited resources and economic infrastructure. We are building non-traditional, viable and sustainable supply chains by developing useful products that can be appreciated everywhere for their beauty and innovations.

HairZing is the first accessory in Sennits' product line, and each hair accessory is hand-crafted with tender loving care in a socially responsible manner – by women, for women.

HairZing in China

In rural China there is a scarcity of jobs. Women must often choose to leave their families behind and live where the factories are located, being separated for most of the year from their children.

Sennits helped to establish a company in rural China which provides work opportunities for women as an alternative. Women in China who make HairZings don't have to leave their communities and families.

Sennits, a worker-centered company, enables women to earn fair wages and to control where and when they work. Many of the women choose to bead HairZings in their homes.

HairZing in Kenya

The women of the Maasai tribe in Africa have legendary beading skills but few job opportunities. Girls seldom receive education, female circumcision is still practiced, and female entrepreneurs are rare.

Sennits approached the Maasai women about launching a female-owned and operated beading collective. The founders provide start-up capital, as well as on-going marketing and management support to handcraft HairZings.

Sennits supports other established businesses and collectives in Kenya with the goal of sustaining work opportunities throughout the region. Dignified work, flexible work schedules and the ability to earn fair wages are key elements to the Maasai's continued growth and independence. The goal is for the women to build skills necessary to launch other small businesses.

Both projects in China and Kenya have waiting lists of women who want to work as demand for HairZing increases. Sennits is excited to contribute positively to these communities and to act as a leader in both our industry and within our global society to improve business opportunities for women.

HairZing – social responsibility in action.
